Description

8-channel analog input module (voltage/current selectable), balances channel density and per-channel performance for general process inputs.

The AD8A supports multiple analog ranges (voltage and current), presents channel values in digital format to the PLC, and is configured via XG5000. It is commonly used where you need more channels than a 4-channel card but want reasonable per-channel performance without the wiring overhead of 16-channel modules. Check the datasheet for supported formats, conversion resolution, and per-channel timing.

Pros

• Eight channels per slot increases density with manageable wiring.
• Supports same standard ranges as other XGF analog inputs for consistent signal handling.

Limitations

• Not isolated per channel in every variant; select AD4S or AD16A if isolation is required.
• Verify resolution and refresh time for measurement/closed-loop requirements.

Typical use cases

• Plant sensors (pressure, flow, level via transmitters) when eight channels per module is an efficient choice.
