Description
Expansion cable, 10 m length; for when the expansion bay lives in another corner of the cabinet or a nearby rack. Use with caution: total chain length matters.
The Polar Energy Assessment:
The E102 is a long-reach 10-metre expansion cable for XGT/XGB systems, intended where the CPU and expansion chassis are separated by larger cabinet real estate or short cable trays. The hardware manual lists the E102 and other long lengths, and it warns that the cumulative extension distance must not exceed the system maximum (typically 15 m total across chained cables), so plan your topology accordingly.
Pros
- Lets you place expansion bases away from the CPU for flexible panel layout.
- Keeps single-vendor compatibility and plug-in reliability over longer distances compared with jury-rigged ribbon splices.
Limitations
- Long cable runs increase system cumulative length; don’t exceed the manufacturer’s total extension limit.
- Longer cable needs careful routing and strain relief to avoid mechanical stress.
Typical use cases
- Large cabinets, remote expansion bays in the same machine cell, or when consolidating multiple smaller racks.
