Description
Higher-density DC input base unit for XGB: 32 discrete 24 V inputs, plus the platform’s standard built-in comms and functions. Useful when you need lots of inputs without adding expansion modules.
The Polar Energy Assessment:
XBM-DN32S is the 32-input standard DC base unit in the XGB family, consolidating a high number of inputs on the CPU card and keeping the same feature set (serial comms, counters, PID, etc.). It’s the go-to when you want to maximize native I/O density and avoid extra expansion racks for straightforward sensor-rich machines.
Pros
- High native input density reduces accessory modules and wiring.
- Keeps XGB built-in features (counters, communications, PID) available locally.
Limitations
- Larger native I/O means fewer slots for other expansion modules in very tight racks. Plan slot/layout.
- If you need mixed outputs, choose the correct DN/DR combination or add output modules.
Typical use cases
- Machines and panels with many sensors (e.g., large packaging sections) that benefit from one high-density CPU.
