It implements RAPIEnet transport at 100 Mbps and is meant for environment-sensitive or long-distance interconnects (fiber media), with vendor documentation listing media-specific ranges and node counts. Choose the EIMF when you need optical isolation or long cable runs that copper cannot reliably service.
