Description
CANopen slave communication module (CANopen slave I/F) for XGB PLCs. Makes the XGB act as a CANopen slave node under a remote CANopen master.
The Polar Energy Assessment:
The XBL-CSEA provides a CANopen slave interface so the XGB PLC can be controlled by an external CANopen master. It supports standard CANopen services, PDO/SDO mapping, and typical baud rates up to 1 Mbps. Use the module when your machine must behave as a node on a larger CANopen master system rather than controlling the bus itself. Configuration is via XG5000 and the installation guide covers registration and parameter mapping.
Pros
- Lets your XGB PLC participate in a CANopen network controlled by a higher-level master.
- Support for standard CANopen features and baud rates for compatibility.
Limitations
- Slave behavior requires the CANopen master to manage PDO timing and SDO servicing.
- Same wiring/termination discipline as any CAN network; messy wiring kills reliability.
Typical use cases
- Integrating XGB PLCs into plantwide CANopen architectures where a central master orchestrates multiple nodes.
- Machine modules that must appear as CANopen slaves for modular line control.
