Description

4-channel thermocouple input module (J, K, T, R types supported), 16-bit resolution for accurate temperature measurements. Includes reference junction compensation and removable terminal block.

The Polar Energy Assessment:

TC04S reads up to four thermocouples and presents high-resolution temperature values to the PLC. It supports multiple thermocouple types, includes cold-junction compensation, and is sized to fit XGB racks. Use it when you need thermocouple sensors for wide temperature ranges or high peak temperatures that RTDs cannot handle.

Pros

• Supports common thermocouple types with wide ranges, including very high temperatures on R type.
• 16-bit resolution in cut sheet yields fine-grain measurements for control and logging.

Limitations

• Thermocouples require good cold-junction handling and shielding for accurate readings.
• For control loops you may prefer the TC04RT/TT controller variants instead of raw inputs.

Typical use cases

• High-temperature monitoring, kiln/furnace sensing, and processes where thermocouples are the viable sensor type.
