Description
Economic (E-type) compact CPU with 6 DI + 4 relay outputs; small, low-cost relay-output unit for simple panels.
The Polar Energy Assessment:
DR10E is an entry E-class XBC CPU that provides relay outputs for isolated switching in the smallest local I/O footprint. E-class units are cost-focused: limited program memory (~4k steps), slower cycle (≈240 ns/step), but still include useful basics like one programming port, a peripheral port (RS-232/RS-485), basic high-speed counter support and input filtering. It’s the right choice for tiny machines where relay output isolation is required and advanced features are unnecessary.
Pros
- Relay outputs give galvanic isolation for pilot loads and AC switching at low count.
- Very low cost and compact size for trivial control tasks.
Limitations
- Very limited program memory and expansion capability; not suitable for larger or feature-heavy projects.
- Slower execution than SU/H classes; avoid for time-critical loops.
Typical use cases
- Small pilot panels, simple machines requiring isolated contacts (alarms, pilot relays), and brownfield retrofits where relay outputs simplify wiring to existing AC devices.
