Description
SU-class compact XGB CPU in the ~20-point class (typical split ≈12 DI / 8 DO), higher performance than E-class with SU feature set: PID, HSC, positioning and better memory/scan.
The Polar Energy Assessment:
DP20SU is the SU (standard) tier XBC/XEC main unit for mid-complexity panels. Compared with E models it brings much more program memory (~15k steps), a far faster execution rate (SU class ≈94 ns/step), and built-in functions like PID loops, high-speed counters and positioning. It supports the usual XGB expansion topology (multiple expansion stages and option slots) so you can scale local I/O without jumping to a rack PLC. Use DP20SU when you need compact hardware but real control features and headroom.
Pros
- SU performance and memory (real PID/HSC capability in a compact unit).
- Good expansion headroom for a compact CPU (per XGB expansion rules).
- Robust comms: RS-232C / RS-485 channels and USB/loader support on many SKUs.
Limitations
- More expensive than E-class; overkill for trivial sequencing only.
- Confirm DI/DO polarity and power variant on the SKU to avoid wiring mismatches.
Typical use cases
- Medium-complexity AHU/chiller zones with PID loops, packaging machines with pulse counting, conveyor segments needing reliable HSC and limited positioning.
