Description
Economic E-type main unit in the 20-point class (roughly 12 DI + 8 DO), low-cost compact controller with basic peripherals and I/O.
The Polar Energy Assessment:
The XBC/XEC-DP20E provides a larger E-class I/O footprint (~20 points) while keeping the E-type cost structure: modest program capacity, basic high-speed counter support, serial programming and peripheral port and standard input filtering. It’s the practical choice when E class fits functionally but you need a few more local points than the smaller DP10/DP14 units. Always cross-check the exact DI/DO split and the SKU power variant on the vendor quote.
Pros
- Low cost and small form factor, with useful per-port diagnostics and HSC basics.
- Simple to commission using standard LS tools.
Limitations
- Limited program space and slower cycle time vs U/SU/H classes.
- Not recommended where many fast counters or advanced PID loops are required.
Typical use cases
- Small packaging heads, feeders, pilot panels, and compact conveyors that require a handful of digital points and a simple serial peripheral connection.
