Description
Standard (SU) class compact CPU: 12 DI + 8 DO transistor outputs with stronger feature set than E-type; faster CPU, more expansion and advanced HSC/PID/positioning capability.
The Polar Energy Assessment:
DN20SU is an SU (standard) XBC/XEC compact CPU that provides the same local I/O count as DN20E (12/8) but with far bigger capability: ~15 Kstep program memory, faster scan (≈94 ns/step), enhanced high-speed counter and positioning modes, and larger expansion capability. SU models are the sensible middle ground: more performance than E class, less cost than top H class, and they support the typical XGB suite (PID, HSC, positioning and multiple comm ports). Use SU when you need professional features without paying for the H family.
Pros
- Much better performance and memory than E-type while remaining compact.
- Robust HSC, PID and modest positioning support make it versatile for medium-complexity machines.
- Up to 7 expansion slots (varies) for flexible I/O scaling.
Limitations
- More expensive than E family; if you truly only need a handful of points the extra features are wasted.
Typical use cases
- Mid-complexity machines, AHU/chiller zones needing PID and HSC, conveyor sections with significant pulse counting or light positioning, and panels where performance matters but the full H family is overkill.
