Description

LS Electric Metasol; MC-100a/4 (4-pole variant of MC-100a)

A 4-pole magnetic contactor in the Metasol MC-100a family rated for ~100 A switching (AC-3 class) with integrated 2 NO + 2 NC auxiliaries and multiple coil options (AC and DC variants). Built for compact panels that still need a proper neutral-switching contactor.

The Polar Energy Assessment:

MC-100a/4 is the practical choice when a neutral must be switched (or your wiring convention demands 4 poles) but you don’t need full power-contactor bulk. It keeps the Metasol benefits; accessory ecosystem, DIN-rail/panel flexibility (where the frame allows), certified electrical ratings; while giving you neutral switching without stepping up to a much larger AF frame. Don’t expect it to replace heavy feeders; spec protection and lugging carefully.

Pros

  • Neutral switching (4P); required for certain installations and safer fault behaviour where neutral must be opened.
  • Metasol accessory support (auxiliary blocks, interlocks, overloads) and multiple terminal styles (lug/screw).
  • Available in common coil voltages (AC and DC options); flexible for retrofit or new panels.

Limitations

  • Still a ~100 A class device; not suitable for larger feeders (250 A+).
  • IP20 by default; needs enclosure in harsh environments.
  • 4-pole dimensions and weight increase; plan panel layout and mechanical mounting.

Typical use cases

  • Switching 3-phase + neutral loads (heaters, certain motor configurations).
  • Panels where neutral isolation is required by local wiring rules or safety practice.
  • OEM equipment and retrofit jobs where space is tight but a neutral pole must be switched.
