Description
LXP-D12 — LXP Display Unit (12″ class)
12.1″ display module (touch + LCD) intended to pair with an LXP main unit via the XP-VLink interface. Designed so you can replace or upgrade the screen without touching the logic/CPU unit.
The Polar Energy Assessment:
Good when you want a mid-sized industrial front end that can be serviced independently of the control logic. Use D12 to put a high-quality local UI on an existing LXP main unit; don’t expect it to run logic by itself — that lives in the MD (main) unit. If you need camera, extended I/O or larger screens, pick the larger D/T variants.
Pros
- Separable design: display can be hot-swapped in supported configs.
- Modern touch + display tech (capacitive vector graphics) consistent with LXP family.
Limitations
- No CPU/I/O on the display side — must pair with an LXP main unit (MD).
- Exact peripheral capabilities (camera, powered USB ports, etc.) depend on the D-variant and how it’s wired to the main unit.
Typical use cases
- Panel upgrades where you want to refresh the UI without replacing the PLC/main logic.
- Front-end replacement for field service (hot-swap reduces downtime).
