Description
6-slot main base for the GM6 family; hosts the CPU, power module and up to 6 I/O or option modules for medium-sized controllers.
The Polar Energy Assessment:
The GM6-B06M is the 6-slot main chassis used when you need more local I/O than a 4-slot main but still want a single consolidated rack. The GM6 documentation shows the B06M as the in-between size and lays out slot allocation rules and power considerations. It’s popular for mid-sized OEM panels and localized plant controllers that require moderate I/O capacity without distributed expansion.
Pros
- Mid-range slot count reduces need for external expansion in medium applications.
- Easier wiring and single-rack management for moderate I/O systems.
Limitations
- If you exceed six modules you’ll need expansion chassis; plan capacity up front.
Typical use cases
- Mid-size machine controllers, pump station local controllers, OEM panels that require several I/O plus comms or analog modules.
