Description
6-slot expansion base board for the GM4 family; this component provides six additional module positions linked to a main base.
The Polar Energy Assessment:
The GM4-B06E is a 6-slot expansion base for GM4 systems. It gives more expansion capacity than the 4-slot expansion board, useful where a single expansion trunk must host more modules. The board connects to a GM4 main base via the standard expansion cable and inherits the GM4 mechanical and electrical backplane layout. Use B06E when you need a larger satellite rack without deploying a full second main base.
Pros
- Larger expansion capacity (6 slots) for medium-sized I/O growth.
- Native GM4 mechanical/backplane compatibility.
- Useful to stage incremental capacity increases without touching the main rack.
Limitations
- Requires main base and expansion cabling, and attention to segment length / wiring rules.
- If you need CPU or local power, you must use a main base instead.
Typical use cases
- Medium expansion racks for plant I/O, remote I/O clusters near field sensors, and incremental system upgrades.
