Description
4-slot expansion base board for the GLOFA GM4 PLC family, used to add additional I/O or function modules to an existing GM4 system.
The Polar Energy Assessment:
The GM4-B04E is an expansion chassis (4 module positions) that connects to a GM4 main base to extend available module slots. It supports the GM4 module family and follows the GM4 mechanical/backplane protocol so you can place additional I/O, communication, or special function modules in remote or local expansion racks. Expansion bases are intended to increase I/O density without replacing the existing main base.
Pros
- Small, 4-slot form factor for compact expansion.
- Native GM4 backplane compatibility; accepts the same GM4 I/O and option modules.
- Useful to stage incremental capacity increases without touching the main rack.
Limitations
- Expansion board only; requires an existing GM4 main base and proper expansion cabling.
- Physical slots are limited (4), so multiple expansion bases may be needed for larger systems.
Typical use cases
- Add-on I/O for machine expansions, small distributed remote racks, and incremental capacity increases in retrofit projects.
