Description
U-series transistor module for GM7U racks: 12 DC inputs + 8 NPN transistor outputs (24 VDC logic). Use this if you need an NPN (sink) output wiring style in a GM7U form factor.
The Polar Energy Assessment:
The G7M-DT20U (N) (/DC) is the U-series variant with NPN-type transistor outputs (sink style). It gives the same channel counts as the DT20A but is packaged for GM7U compatibility and wired for NPN sinking outputs. Choose the (N) version where existing field wiring expects NPN sinking outputs; LS catalogs make clear there are N (sink) and P (source) variants across the DTU family.
Pros
- U-series mapping makes spare swaps easy on GM7U racks.
- NPN sink outputs match common industrial wiring (sourcing sensors into sinks).
Limitations
- Must match sink/source polarity to sensors/actuators; wrong choice leads to wiring headaches.
- Transistor outputs not suitable for AC loads; use relays for AC switching.
Typical use cases
- GM7U panels with NPN field devices, mid-sized machine controls requiring many fast DC outputs, and retrofit jobs where U-series numbering is required.
