Description
Higher-density relay I/O module offering 18 DC inputs and 12 relay outputs for medium-to-large control panels. Available in standard (/A) and /DC logic supply variants depending on rack.
The Polar Energy Assessment:
The G7M-DR30A (/DC) scales the DR family up to 18 inputs and 12 relay outputs for larger I/O requirements while keeping the same relay-contact switching approach (suitable for AC pilot loads and DC actuators). It’s commonly used on bigger machines, central control panels, and HVAC plants where more discrete channels are required but transistor outputs or high-current contactors are not necessary. OEM datasheet tables show DR30A in the standard GM7/GM7U expansion matrix and list relay contact rating and common arrangements.
Pros
- Higher channel count reduces the number of expansion slots needed.
- Relay outputs keep wiring simple for AC loads.
Limitations
- Mechanical relays mean limited switching cycles compared with solid-state outputs.
- More terminals to wire; plan cabinet layout and strain relief accordingly.
Typical use cases
- Larger machine I/O banks, equipment skids with many discrete sensors and pilot actuators, and HVAC plant panels where many discrete alarms and control points must be routed to a single PLC rack.
