Description
The DR20U is the “universal” or updated DR20 variant: 12 DC inputs with improved wiring flexibility and 8 relay outputs; available in /DC (24 VDC) logic models and referenced in GM7U product families.
The Polar Energy Assessment:
G7M-DR20U (/DC) appears in GM7U documentation as the updated 12-input / 8-relay output module with minor mechanical or connector updates geared to the GM7U platform. Functionally similar to the DR20A, the DR20U family is often used when GM7U compatibility is required (some aftermarket suppliers list DR20U as the preferred spare for GM7U systems). The U-variant items often show up in reseller inventories and GM7U module lists, so use DR20U when you’re matching a GM7U rack.
Pros
- Same reliable channel mix as DR20A, packaged for GM7U compatibility.
- Widely available on secondary markets and documented in GM7U lists.
Limitations
- Check firmware/slot compatibility on legacy racks; some “U” variants map differently in older CPU ROMs.
Typical use cases
- Same as DR20A but choose DR20U when you’re working on GM7U-based systems or swapping spares for GM7U racks. Ideal for medium-density discrete I/O needs in OEMs and brownfield sites.
