Description
A 4-channel, 12-bit digital-to-analog (D/A) current output module for the MASTER-K120S series; supports 0–20 mA and 4–20 mA outputs with 12-bit resolution and ±0.5% accuracy.
The Polar Energy Assessment:
The G7F-DA2I converts signed 12-bit digital values from the CPU into precision analog current outputs for actuators, valve positioners, or analog input devices. It offers 4 output channels, selectable 0–20 mA or 4–20 mA ranges, photocoupler isolation to PLC power, a fast conversion time (≈500 µs + scan), and guidance to avoid common wiring mistakes (e.g., do not tie outputs to common-grounded devices). This module is used where the PLC must drive 4–20 mA valves, proportional actuators, or external devices requiring current-loop control.
Pros
- Four independent, high-resolution current outputs ideal for valve positioners and analog actuators.
- 12-bit signed output with ±0.5% accuracy yields smooth analog control.
- Fast conversion (500 µs + scan) supports reasonably dynamic control loops.
Limitations
- Current outputs must not be connected to devices that share a common grounded return; the module is designed for floating current loops.
- External power (24 VDC) required for outputs; plan cabinet power budget accordingly.
Typical use cases
- Controlling 4–20 mA control valves in chilled-water systems, modulating dampers via current-driven actuators, analog setpoint outputs to remote controllers, and any application requiring precise current-loop outputs from a MASTER-K120S PLC.
