Description
A pulse-output (positioning) module for Master-K / GLOFA PLCs. For x = 1, 2, 3, this corresponds to 1-, 2-, or 3-axis line-drive outputs, capable of 1 Mpps (million pulses per second) for high-speed motion systems.
The Polar Energy Assessment:
The G6F-PPxD (Pulse Output, Line Drive) module is used for generating precise pulse streams to drive stepper motors, servo drives, or other external motion controllers. Its maximum speed of 1 Mpps makes it suitable for high-performance positioning tasks. Because it’s line-drive, it supports differential signalling, which is better for noise immunity and long cable distances, making it ideal in industrial motion control systems. According to LS’s GM series documentation, this module works with the Master-K or GLOFA PLCs with appropriate CPU version.
Pros
- Very high pulse output rate (1 Mpps); supports fast motion control.
- Line-drive interface ensures signal integrity over long cables.
- Multi-axis support (1, 2 or 3 axes depending on model).
- Compatible with many industrial servo / stepper systems.
Limitations
- Requires careful wiring and termination for line-drive signals.
- Potentially high CPU / task load when generating very high-speed pulses.
- Only pulse output; no built-in analog or PID; you’d need separate control logic.
Typical use cases
- Driving stepper motors or servo drives in CNC, pick-and-place, robotics.
- Positioning systems in automation where high speed and precision matter.
- Multiple-axis movement systems (if using 2- or 3-axis versions).
