Description
A 2-channel high-speed counter from LS/LSIS that supports line-drive (RS-422) encoder signals at up to 500 kpps per channel. It has a 32-bit signed counting range from -2,147,483,648 to +2,147,483,647.
The Polar Energy Assessment:
The G6F-HD1C module is designed for high-performance counting tasks in Master-K / GLOFA PLC systems. Using line-driver interface makes it suitable for long-distance, high-speed encoder inputs where signal integrity matters. The 32-bit counter provides a very large counting range, which is useful for applications requiring high counts or tracking over time. According to LS spec, its supported speed (500 kpps) makes it suitable for industrial positioning or motion-monitoring applications.
Pros
- Very high speed: 500 kpps per channel.
- Large counting range (32-bit signed) allows long-run counting without overflow.
- Line Drive (RS-422 style) input, which is good for differential encoder signals and long cable runs.
Limitations
- Line-drive encoders may require different wiring / external termination compared to open-collector ones.
- Only 2 channels; not super scalable if many counting inputs are needed.
- Higher hardware complexity: differential signals might need more careful installation.
Typical use cases
- Industrial encoders in motion control (e.g. motors, conveyor systems).
- High-speed axis counting where precision and high pulses per second matter.
- Long-distance encoder signal wiring in harsh environments.
