Description
The G4L-RUEA is a “Rnet master module” for the G4L series; Rnet being LS’s network standard for certain distributed I/O and communication tasks. This is an “Rnet master module.”
The Polar Energy Assessment:
When your system architecture uses the Rnet communication protocol (rather than Ethernet/Fnet/Profibus), RUEA gives your G4L PLC module the master interface to that network. According to LS’s “Automation Products” catalogue the RUEA is the “Rnet master module” entry for G4L. Use this where I/O stations or remote devices speak Rnet and you need the PLC as network master.
Pros
- Provides compatibility with LS’s specialized Rnet protocol, enabling control of distributed I/O stations or subsystems requiring that interface.
- Maintains slot/format compatibility with G4L PLC racks.
Limitations
- Rnet is less widespread than standard fieldbus networks; future expansion may demand protocol translation.
- Documentation/spec detail for RUEA is less prominent publicly; need to verify network limits (distance, nodes, data size) with your supplier.
Typical use cases
- Plants already wired with Rnet infrastructure and needing spare or additional master modules.
- OEM builds where LS Electric standardises on Rnet for distributed remote I/O networks.
- Integration of G4L PLC racks with remote I/O frames or devices that speak Rnet.
