Description
G4L-EUFC is another 100BASE-FX fiber Ethernet module for G4L PLCs, sometimes referenced as the CPU-V2.7+ compatible fiber interface variant. It gives the same fiber capabilities as EUFB but appears in some catalog revisions with slightly different firmware/compatibility notes.
The Polar Energy Assessment:
Functionally EUFC and EUFB behave the same to a systems designer: they expose a 100BASE-FX link from the PLC rack. The distinction is mostly historical and compatibility-driven; some CPU or firmware versions call out EUFC in the compatibility matrix while others reference EUFB. LS product literature lists both EUFC and EUFB as fiber options, and vendor catalogs show EUFC tied to specific CPU/firmware notes (check your CPU version). In short: same fiber performance, but double-check that your CPU revision supports the EUFC variant listed in the LS compatibility table.
Pros
- Same fiber advantages as EUFB: galvanic isolation, long runs, immunity to EMI.
Limitations
- Variant differences mean you must confirm CPU/firmware support before ordering.
- As with all fiber modules, connector type and fiber class matter; mismatch will waste your time and money.
Typical use cases
- PLC networking over fiber when your CPU docs list EUFC as supported.
- Migration projects where you must match a previously installed EUFC part number for spares or compatibility.
- Any installation where fiber is preferred for noise immunity or distance.
